For sale- 2002 VW Eurovan Camper. One owner, purchased new in 2002 from Carrera Motors here in Bend. 17,808 miles, all records available. Very lightly used, always garaged, and rarely driven in the winter months. Excellent condition, and conscientiously maintained.
A little background- the last three years of production (2001-2003) had the 201 hp VR6 engine- a 61 hp gain over the previous version, and it makes all the difference in drivability- the 01-03 models are dramatically faster than their predecessors. 2003 was the last year VW exported the EVC to the US.
This EVC is all stock as it came from the dealer, with the addition last year of the GoWesty “Lift and Level” kit, to correct the slight lean to the driver’s side that all uncorrected EVC’s will be showing by this point. The kit includes 4 Bilstein gas shocks, and 4 new Michelin Defender M&S in 235-60-16 100T on alloy wheels. The kit was installed by the local VW dealer, and surprisingly improved the handling a great deal. See:
While you’re at that website, check their “Vehicle Sales History” to see what they are selling the “restored” late-model EVC’s for, and check the mileage.
We also added several accessories from Eurocamper.com, including their “window insulation kit” (mylar reflectors), the overhead vent screen, a Velcro screen for the sliding door, and seat-back storage for both driver and passenger in the matching upholstery pattern (see photos). Not shown is the middle-row, single captain’s chair- most EVC’s were sold with the middle-row double seat that blocks access forward and backward, without the sliding door being opened, unlike the single captain’s chair. I removed it on the first day and it’s been stored under covers ever since then.
Here is a promotional brochure from 2002:
This really is a beautiful, clean example of the last, best version of the EVC Camper. In almost all respects, it’s a nearly-new 2002 model, and certainly one of the lowest mileage EVC’s currently on the market. That makes pricing especially difficult, but as you can see on Craigslist, GoWesty, Samba, the poptopheaven.com site and others, examples with far more mileage are priced nearly as high.
Serious, in-person buyers only. Payment by cashier’s check only from a major bank- no personal checks.
